Through theatre games and exercises we explore what makes physical stage action funny and engaging, giving you a chance to explore your creative potential as a clown performer.

Clown Lab

Through exploring original games and exercises, this experimental class looks at building on the essentials of Gaulier clowning to continue an organic exploration of one’s ‘clown’.

Previous classes:

Using our extensive network of performers and teachers in the field of physical performance, we regularly bring in special guest teachers. Previous teachers have included: Mick Barnfather, clown teacher at Ecole Philippe Gaulier and past member of Complicité; John Wright, author of Why is That So Funny? and co-founder of Told by an Idiot; Caroline Partridge, Olivier award-nominated actor and puppeteer; David Glass, physical theatre pioneeer and artistic director of the David Glass Ensemble

Pricing
At Brighton Clown School, we are on a mission to make physical comedy and theatre training as accessible as possible. Class prices vary, depending on the class and teacher, but are among the most affordable out there.

Where are we based?
Our workshops usually take place at Hanover Community Centre. We also hold some classes at The Studio, Whippingham Road.
